In July 2018 Jackie and her family swapped the cold Cornish waters for the warm waters of the Sunshine Coast and joined our Innovation Podiatry team. She maintains her interest in the diabetic foot but is also enjoying the chance to pursue her other professional interests which include plantar heel pain, orthotic management of the foot, knee osteoarthritis and tendinopathies. She welcomes people of all ages, and says the best part of her profession is keeping people mobile – whether it is helping someone to walk around their garden pain free or run a marathon.
Jackie graduated from the University of Plymouth in Devon, UK, with a First Class Honours Degree in Podiatry. She then spent 10 years working for the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Podiatry service, working predominantly with the high risk diabetic foot. Her main area of interest was the prevention of ulceration and amputation in the diabetic neuropathic foot. This led her to complete further study at Masters Level, obtaining a Distinction in Mechanics of the Diabetic Foot.
In her spare time Jackie enjoys getting out on her SUP, dolphin watching with her daughter, helping with Nippers and muttering that one day she will get back into mountainbiking, surfing, trail running and surfboats.
